Mix 4 g of powder (1 measuring equals 1 g) with approx. 250 ml of cold water in a steel pot. After a short boil, remove the pot from the heat and stir until the powder has completely dissolved. Allow the elm bark syrup to cool well. Then the cooled syrup can be drawn on a syringe without a cannula and put into the mouth of your animal.
Give the syrup 30 minutes before the normal feeding if possible. Do not mix the elm bark syrup under food, as the strong formation of slime can prevent the absorption of nutrients.

Essiac for Pets dog cats
The red elm bark is an ingredient in a very famous herbal compound called “Renè Caisse Essiac formula“, if you want to know more about the subject, in the internet you can find lots of information and testimonies. Several years ago I have taken the Essiac tea, if I remember correctly I prepared it every 4 days, I still recall the big stock pot, the dark bottles and the quite laborious process: preparation time about two hours. The taste is pleasant and you can drink it fresh (I kept it in the fridge). If you decide to make this tea, you should know that over the years there have been several attempts of imitation, I enclose the original packaging of the formula.
Renè Caisse formula contains
- Slippery Elm (Ulmus Fulva)
- Rheum Officinale
- Rumex Acetosella
- Arctium lappa
Essiac is an herbal formula that was used since 1922 by Canadian nurse Rene Caisse in helping poeple with serious illness. The original formula was passed on to her by an Ojibway medicine man. The active botanicals in Essiac have been used independently in naturopathic medicine for hundreds of years to help cleanse the blood and nourish individual cells, enhancing their strength and integrity. The herbs in this formulation have helped to restore health to thousands of people worldwide with no adverse side effects.
